Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje with new laboratory in its research infrastructure

The laboratory for Chemical Analysis of Primary Agricultural Products and their Processed Products (L-07) at the @Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Food - Skopje, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, on 1 September 2023, received an Accreditation Certificate, issued by the Institute for Accreditation of the R. of North Macedonia (MKS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018) for the analytical method for the determination of acesulfame K, sodium saccharin, aspartame, caffeine, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate in beverages.

This analytical method can be useful for manufacturers of beverages and other food products, inspection authorities, researchers and academia, as well as consumers. In addition to the accredited method, the laboratory also performs other chemical analyses that contribute to determining the food quality and safety.

The accreditation was realised within the project "Development and validation of an analytical method for the simultaneous determination of preservatives, sweeteners and caffeine in beverages", head of the project PhD @Lenche Velkoska-Markovska, full professor, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the R. of North Macedonia.
